Initial thoughts on the track?
It’s nice. It's always good to come here to Arlington; the dirt's great, stadium's cool. I’m looking forward to getting out there. It looks like it's gonna be a good race track.
What do you think about the amount of water they have on the track right now?
It looks soft. But it’s Friday, so I would say it's gotta be soft. If it was already dry now, I'd say it would be really dry by tomorrow. So I think today might be a little soft. Tomorrow morning might be a little soft, but I think by the night show it's gonna be perfect.
You talked about it at Detroit, how it was really gooey. Do you think it's gonna be kind of the same?
No, I think it's different. I think it's gonna go rutty, but it's more sandy. It's has more of a sandy base, whereas Detroit was like super sticky. Even where we’re standing here on the start, it's more slimy. So I think it's still gonna be loose and break down, but break down in a different way.
Do you prefer when it breaks down and gets rutted?
Yeah, I think so. It makes for a better track, makes it more technical, separates everyone a little bit more. It's not just wide open and easy. So yeah, I like it that way.
Where are you training these days?
MTF, which is Cairo, Georgia. So that's where my team's based out; on the east coast.
How long have you been in the US now?
We came over during Covid, so 2020; well end of 2019, just as covid started. So I've been over for a few years now. Really enjoying it and loving getting to come to all these places and check it out and racing all these stadiums.
Do you ever take a couple days to explore the city?
I try to, but now with back to back races, it's hard. You want to just get in and get out. I was lucky enough I was here last year and I got to check out a few bits. My wife and little one are actually exploring Dallas right now, so they're gonna tell me all the good spots tell me what I'm missing.
Do you miss home back in England at all?
Not necessarily England itself, but people and friends and family I guess. Yeah. But as far as it goes with the place: I'm loving it here in America. I love the place where I get to train. I love our set up for my son. It's really great here. My wife likes it, so that's a good thing!
Do you think you're here permanently?
I would like to be: it's an amazing place. I’d like to stay here after I'm done racing, but you never know. We'll see what happens.
