What do you think of the track design so far?
I had a little look. Looks not too bad. Looks a lot more slower than I feel like it was previous years, so we’ll see how it goes. It looks like it's gonna be soft; we’ll see how that forms up too and see what rhythms we are gonna go and hit.How do you like this compared to traditional Supercross?
I like it. I mean I've only done it one year in 2022 and it went well; I liked the track then. So hopefully it has a similar flow, but we'll have to wait and see once we get out there.So far this year it seems like you've shown so much speed. In my opinion, you’re the title favorite going into the second half of the season. What are your thoughts so far on the year and the championship?
Speed feels great right now obviously, but there's a few silly - kind of brain farts you could say; there's the silly moments where I’m kind of learning a bit: I’m relaxing too much with certain stuff. So I mean, it's a good learning year and thankfully we still have the red plate. Right now the game plan is just try and get some good points and try to build up a bit of a points lead and manage it from there. So we'll see how that goes. But yeah, so far it's been a bit roughish and good [laughs]. So we hopefully we can smooth it out for the second part of the season.Are you pretty confident every time you go out that if you get a good start you have what it takes to win?
I mean, you got to with these guys 'cause if you don't have the confidence then none of your team will have any confidence in you. You gotta have a little bit to go up against these guys because these guys are pretty gnarly. So yeah, if I can get a good start, I know I have a decent chance, but you never know with who's feeling good that night.What about races, like say Glendale, where you get a bad start; are you okay with the third or are deep down are you still frustrated that you aren't winning?
Obviously deep down you wanna win every race. I mean it's like every athlete wants to win everything, so obviously I wish I could have got a good start. But I mean with coming through the pack and getting a third, you gotta take the positives out of that. The negative is that I didn't get to put myself in a good position to win. So obviously you have to try and get that outta your mind of: “okay, I'm not in a very easy winning position. I’m not going stupid faster than anyone else.” It's very hard to make up time there also; I feel like that night a third's almost like a win from where I started.
