Well, that’s it right? Unless Jett makes a big mistake in the last two rounds (which is definitely possible), Webb seems to have lost this title. He was right there at the start, but struggled with arm pump, faded, then lost 3rd in the last lap last corner. He had his chances but blew it.
Well that’s it right? Anything can happen at the E/W showdown, but Deegan will need to win it and hope for bad luck from Vialle to get this title… it’s out of his control now. He started mid-pack right behind Vialle but could never get quite close enough to force a pass. He seemed super defeated at the post-race press conference… I think he realizes his chances are slim now too; not the season he was hoping for.
At one point we had the entire top 6 within 5 seconds… crazy close racing! It was cool to see Swoll and Brown charging forward and catching Hammaker. It ended up falling apart for the 3 of them before the end of the race, but impressive and promising for them.
We talked to Hammaker after the race and apparently Swoll was pissed at Hammaker about their incident. Let’s be clear, that was almost entirely Swoll’s fault. He was over-zealous and thought he had the line and that Hammaker knew he was jumping into the inside. Well, it turns out neither of those were true. Seth mentioned that after Swoll cooled down he came back over to apologize after the race.
Same thing as the last few weekends right? We were lucky with close racing in the 250s, but the track was super hard to pass on and didn’t have much to separate the riders. Anstie mentioned that he had to setup his pass on Hammaker for many laps before getting it to work.
I hope we get more races in Philly! The fan turnout wasn’t massive but it was decent, the stadium was cool, and the city is awesome. It’s like a grungier smaller version of NYC.
