Simply put: wow. That has to be one of Eli's best races ever. It's impressive to beat Jett in any fashion, but to dice back forth, solidify a pass on Jett, and then charge forward for all 20 minutes with Jett right behind him? Even more impressive. The rest of the field seemed like they were standing still in comparison.
In reference to the race, this is what Eli had to say:
“It has been a long time since I’ve won one of these 20-minute Main Events. So it feels so good to rebound from last weekend; it was a heartbreak there in Anaheim... I had to work for this. I made a lot of passes and was able to keep it on two wheels. This feels so good.”He also mentioned during the press conference that this ranks up there with some of his favorite wins. And it should!
The kid is awesome. He’s only 17 but yet racing with some of the best in the class and looking the part. In just two races, Davies has solidified himself as being a genuine podium threat... very impressive for such a young age. He clearly doesn't seem to feel the nerves either: riding up front for half the main, and then charging hard at the very end to get a last lap pass on Ryder D. Not to mention: zero sketchy moments throughout all of it; sooooo smooth. Don't be surprised to see him get that first career podium soon, and I honestly think he could get a win before this series is over.
