First off, welcome back. How are you feeling? How are the nerves?

Nerves are tough, I’m not going to lie, but I feel good. I’m happy to be here and happy to be back. There’s really no feeling like it.

How's the arm doing? I know you struggled with it all of last year. Is it at 100%? Is it going to hold you back at all?

I don’t think you ever get back to 100%, but it’s good enough to do what I want to do on the dirt bike. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here. I’ve come a long way—from not being able to move my fingers to being able to ride a Supercross track at my potential. So, no, it’s not going to hold me back right now. If something doesn’t go the way I want, I’ll just blame myself.

How did the deal with BarX come about? Were you talking about it during the off-season, or was it more of a last-minute situation?

It was definitely last minute. Literally a week ago, I was at home in Brazil, sitting on my couch. Then I got the call, came here, and decided to go with BarX. One of the reasons I chose them is that I’ve been riding Yamaha for three or four years now. I also knew Jamie from Twisted, who worked on the engines. I knew the bike would be good, so that’s why I made the decision. I’m super happy with it.

So you’ve only had a few days on the bike?

Yeah, basically. I flew in on Wednesday, got here Thursday, rode at Pala last Friday, and then rode Monday, Tuesday, yesterday, and today. So, I’ve had about four or five days on the bike so far.

Were you training or preparing back in Brazil?

I always train hard, but nothing compares to riding Supercross. My fitness was the best it’s ever been, but when it comes to Supercross, I just needed more laps. That’s what I’ve been trying to do this week and what I’ll keep doing in the next few weeks—building that base again. My speed feels fine; it’s just about logging laps.

Do you have any expectations for tomorrow night specifically?

Not really, just to see where I stack up with the boys. Hopefully, I’ll be around the top five. I’d like that, but we’ll see.

Do you think there’s still room for improvement as you get more laps in?

Exactly. There’s always room for improvement.
