First off, welcome to the pro ranks! How does it feel?
It feels good! I'm very excited. The past two weeks, I couldn't stop smiling. Last weekend was amazing, and this weekend feels the same. I'm just so excited to be here. I learned a lot last weekend, and I'm looking forward to learning more this weekend.
Was it a little awkward not knowing exactly when you’d turn pro? Obviously, Levi decided to move east. How was that? Was it nerve-wracking?
It wasn’t awkward. I kind of knew about the deal I had with Pro Circuit earlier in the year, so I had been training as if I was preparing for Anaheim 1. I was told to be ready whenever, and that’s how it went.
One thing casual fans might not realize is that while you've been on Team Green and closely affiliated with Pro Circuit, the race bike is still quite different from what you were riding last year. How big of a difference is it?
It’s a pretty big step. I’ve been on Kawasaki for a long time, so I got used to the chassis quickly. But the power was definitely a lot different when I first rode it. Luckily, I clicked with the bike pretty well and found a good setting before Anaheim 2, so it felt good.
Anaheim 2 was your first pro Supercross race. What were the nerves like all day?
It was crazy. All day, I kept telling myself I wasn’t nervous, but once we lined up for the main event, it hit me. My stomach dropped, and I realized, “Man, I’m nervous right now.” But as soon as the gate dropped and the adrenaline kicked in, I was just happy to be out there. So, yeah, the nerves hit me for a bit, but then they settled down.
Do you have any expectations for the rest of the series? Are you aiming for a top-five finish, a podium?
We just want to improve every weekend. Even if it’s not about my finishing position, I want to focus on small things—maybe pulling a holeshot or refining certain aspects of my riding. Just looking for those little improvements along the way.
