Round 8 of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship was this past weekend at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL. Here is our breakdown of the final results.

250

1 #24 RJ Hampshire Good start, and moved into the lead by lap 3. Fastest lap time of the race, and put down some good laps to take it home; maintained a 2-second lead the whole race. Congrats on the first Daytona win!
2 #1 Tom Vialle Was expecting more after the holeshot, but he was just a bit too slow on laps 2 and 3 and allowed RJ to catchup and pass. He couldn’t capitalize off the restart either… lost 2 seconds to RJ right away, but then held that gap the same for the rest of the race. No back-to-back Daytona wins for Vialle.
3 #56 Seth Hammaker Hammaker was shuffled back a bit off the start, but picked up the pace after that and made a move on Hymas for the podium finish. He had the fastest ideal lap time of the race!
4 #10 Chance Hymas Was in 2nd to start, but lost spots to Hampshire and Kitchen pretty quickly, and then eventually lost that final podium spot to Hammaker. Did a good job to stay relatively close to Vialle, but lost the pace at the very end.
5 #92 Maximus Vohland Mid-pack start in 12th, moved up to 9th before the restart, and then passed Thrasher and Bennick pretty quickly after the restart. Definitely capitalized on the restart, because he was 10-seconds back of Bennick before hand. He laster passed Mumford and put down consistent 1:22 lap times to finish it for a top 5!
6 #31 Max Anstie Unfortunate crash in the second turn dropped him to dead last, but he quickly worked his way up to 12th before the restart. The staggered start that ruined his race last round in Detroit actually greatly helped Max in Daytona, because he was able to quickly pass his was up into 7th off the restart, and then later passed Mumford for 6th. Was expecting him to capitalize a bit more off the restart, but he just didn’t have the pace to catchup to (or even stay with) Vohland.
7 #34 Daxton Bennick Bennick started 6th and was riding pretty comfortably in 6th with a big gap over people behind him prior to the restart. He got screwed over the most by the staggered restart, as he quickly got passed by Mumford, Vohland, and Anstie, and simply didn’t have the pace to keep up with those guys afterwards.
8 #41 Nate Thrasher Mid-pack start in 10th, made a few moves, and then got passed by Vohland and Anstie after the restart… rode around after that by himself for the rest of the race. He’s dealing with some broken fingers and simply didn’t have the pace tonight.
9 #59 Cullin Park Another top 10 start, but then lost a few spots in the opening laps. Munoz passed him after the restart, but Park kept on him and eventually got the spot back. Kudos on another top 10 finish!
10 #87 Hardy Munoz Munoz with a career-best and first top 10 finish! Great start to the race in 7th, and was riding in 8th before he crashed on lap 3 and fell back to 14th. He definitely took advantage of the restart: passed Miller and Park (Park eventually passed him back as noted above) and put down some decent laps to hold off Miller for the rest of the race.
11 #60 Carson Mumford Mumford finished 7th but was docked 4 spots (I believe for an off-track excursion). It was a good ride though: he was in 7th before the restart, and then passed and gapped Bennick for the rest of the race. He actually only was a couple seconds back of Anstie at the end… sucks for him that he got docked those spots.
12 #55 Henry Miller Not the best we’ve seen from Miller. Mid-pack for most of the race. Got passed and gapped by Munoz after the restart.
13 #192 Jack Chambers Chambers was wayyy back in 19th on lap 1, but made some moves and was in 15th before the restart. He took advantage of the restart by passing Miller and Park, but eventually lost both those spots back.
14 #350 Chandler Baker First main event for Baker! He started in 16th, passed Clark, but got passed by Chambers. Cool to be in the main, and Daytona to boot!
15 #682 Izaih Clark Clark got passed by Chambers and Baker in the opening laps, and then tugged in behind Baker after the restart where he stayed for the rest of the race. He got passed by Colip at one point, but quickly passed him back. He had a comfortable gap over everyone behind him by the end after a last lap crash by Colip.
16 #89 Trevor Colip Bad start back in 21st, passed Marquier and some downed riders, and then passed Clark after the restart but couldn’t make it stick. He then crashed on the last lap, but luckily had a massive gap over everyone behind him so he didn’t lose any spots.
17 #83 Austin Forkner Forkner was in 10th, but had two crashes after the restart and lost about 35 seconds in total to the whole field. The damage was done at that point… he was slow after that and couldn’t catch up to anyone. Bad start of the season for Forkner… even before the crashes he was pretty far off the pace.
18 #128 Chase Marquier Marquier hadn’t raced since SLC in 2023! Cool to see him making the main… he started near the back and then lost a few spots. He would have finished 17th but crashed with two laps remaining and Forkner got by. He was the last rider to finish (Hicks behind him was a lap down before the restart but passed him and then everyone else DNFed).
19 #468 Michael Hicks Hicks was up in 14th but crashed and was a full lap back. Unfortunately he was restarted at the back a full lap down but did unlap himself from quite a few riders; he actually finished ahead of Chambers!
20 #75 Gage Linville Linville was in 15th, crashed back to 20th, but then passed some guys after the restart and was up in 14th before he DNFed on lap 8; not sure what happened.
21 #47 Levi Kitchen Ughhhh that was a brutal crash. Kitchen was one of the fastest guys tonight and was in 3rd behind Vialled before crashing out and causing the red flag. He has a broken collarbone and some fractures in his upper back… heal up soon!
22 #50 Cameron McAdoo McAdoo didn’t start the race due to his knee being too jacked up. According to Payton, sounds like he will opt to undergo surgery to repair the knee and will miss the remainder of the season. Sucks.

1 #94 Ken Roczen Roczen claims his first Daytona win! He was in 4th to start and took a while (for his standards) to get going, but eventually passed Webb, Anderson, and Plessinger to get into the lead. He put down the fastest lap of the night to catch and pass Plessinger, and maintained consistently fast laps to stay ahead of Webb. Congrats on the win Kenny!
2 #2 Cooper Webb Webb will be disappointed with this. He started ahead of Roczen but couldn’t make moves quickly enough on Anderson and Plessinger in front. Roczen was then able to pass and gap him… Webb did reel him back in eventually, only to make a big mistake and lose a few seconds with just a few laps left. It was too much to overcome at that point.
3 #7 Aaron Plessinger Plessinger is back! He started 2nd, gapped Webb a bit, and then passed Anderson for the lead! Eventually both Roczen, Webb, and Sexton were able to catch up and pass him, but he continued putting down some good laps and passed Sexton back (albeit due to slow laps from Sexton). The Daytona crowd loved seeing Plessinger near the front!
4 #32 Justin Cooper Cooper needed another good start tonight, but instead was back in 9th. A great ride for him to pass his way all the way up to 4th. He looked strong at the end, and was super close to Plessinger; another lap or two and it probably would have been a podium for him.
5 #4 Chase Sexton More struggles for Sexton after a nasty heat-race crash. He had a bad gate pick after going to the LCQ, but managed an 8th place start and was slowly working his way up to the front. He actually had caught all the way up to Webb and was right behind him in 3rd, but seemed to “hit a wall” and his lap times dropped by about 3-4 seconds. Not sure what was up… Plessinger was able to pass him back, and Cooper caught up to and passed him as well. Not a good look for Chase.
6 #27 Malcolm Stewart Stewart started 5th, got caught and passed by Sexton and Cooper, but put down some decent laps and was back on Sexton by the end. The heat race win in front of the home-state crowd was cool!
7 #46 Justin Hill Hill is consistently performing now! He lost spots to Sexton and Cooper in the opening laps after starting 7th, but passed McElrath and put down some good laps to catch and pass a badly-fading Anderson. I think he would have liked to keep up with Stewart a bit more… was a few seconds behind him at one point but got gapped quite a bit by the end.
8 #21 Jason Anderson Anderson looked great to start: holeshot and had three laps in a row in the 1:19s to start. Once Plessinger got by though, things quickly went downhill; his lap times dropped by several seconds and he faded badly back to 8th. Not good.
9 #17 Joey Savatgy 13th place on the opening lap, but put down some good laps and got around Schock, Barcia, McElrath, and Ferrandis by the halfway mark. He continued pushing and was only a second back from Anderson by the end; silently an impressive ride for Joey.
10 #51 Justin Barcia Mid-pack start in 11th and couldn’t make up much ground. He got passed by Savatgy, but did work his way around McElrath and Ferrandis after that. Barcia simply didn’t have the pace tonight… not a good race for him.
11 #12 Shane McElrath McElrath had a great start up front, but got shuffled back pretty quickly. He was back in 12th and a few seconds back from Ferrandis at one point (after Ferrandis had already passed him), but McElrath caught up and made a pass on the last lap for 11th.
12 #14 Dylan Ferrandis 10th place start for Ferrandis but he lost spots to Savatgy and Barcia and then faded towards the end. He was up in 9th at one point… going backwards is not what he wants to see. He lost a spot to McElrath (after previously passing McElrath) on the last lap and had no fight in him (not sure if he made a mistake or not but the last lap was super slow).
13 #49 Mitchell Oldenburg Oldenburg started 14th, passed Schock, and the basically rode by himself for the rest of the race.
14 #37 Coty Schock Schock got shuffled back a few spots to start the race, but he passed Bloss back pulled away from Nichols. A good effort, especially considering he was riding his 250!
15 #45 Colt Nichols Nichols didn’t have the pace tonight… he started 16th and passed Bloss but that was about it. He was the last rider on the lead lap.
16 #57 Benny Bloss Bloss started 15th and had passed Schock, but lost the spot back and then got passed by Nichols. He didn’t have the pace… was a few seconds per lap off of Nichols and got gapped pretty badly.
17 #86 Mitchell Harrison Harrison started behind Nichols in 17th and stayed there the whole race. He got gapped a lot, but had a big gap over every behind him at the end.
18 #77 Jerry Robin Robin had an impressive ride through the pack to just get into the main from the LCQ. He stated he was pretty tired after that… he passed Moranz in the opening laps and was catching / right on Harrison, but eventually lost the pace and settled for 18th.
19 #11 Kyle Chisholm Chisholm started 20th and passed Moranz. He was right on Robin for the opening laps but couldn’t maintain that pace.
20 #122 Justin Starling Starling started 21st, took a few laps to pass Moranz, and actually reeled in Chisholm and was right on him for a couple laps. He eventually lost the pace though.
21 #146 Kevin Moranz Moranz started ahead of Chisholm and Starling but couldn’t match their pace. Once he got passed, his race seemed pretty eventless.
22 #33 Fredrik Noren Noren’s first main since dislocating his shoulder in Glendale. He was off the pace tonight and couldn’t make up anytime on those in front.
