Round 9 of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship was this past weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. Here is our breakdown of the final results.

450

1 #2 Cooper Webb Webb started near the front and quickly moved into the lead, which he then held for the entire race. He had the best lap time and best ideal lap. Almost a perfect race for Coop... he seemed fired up after crashes in qualifying and his heat.
2 #32 Justin Cooper A little slow to start and got passed by Sexton, but stayed consistent and eventually passed Barcia for 3rd. He also passed Sexton after Sexton fell towards the end. Career-best finish for Cooper!
3 #4 Chase Sexton Surprised that Sexton didn't have more speed to catchup to Webb. He moved into 2nd after passing Cooper and Barcia, but crashed towards the end of the race in the sand and rode it in from there to get 3rd. Nothing flashy from Sexton tonight.
4 #51 Justin Barcia Barcia holeshot, and was running in 2nd for a while before Sexton passed him. His pace dropped off quite a bit towards the end and Justin Cooper was able to pass and gap him. Not the ideal ending, but a season-best finish for Barcia nonetheless; was good just to see him riding near the front.
5 #7 Aaron Plessinger Started in 8th, got passed by Stewart and Savatgy in the opening laps, but found some pace to pass them both back and start charging through the field. He caught all the way up to Barcia in 4th, but then Barcia took him down (it's okay I think... they're teammates and seemed fine with it after the race). Plessinger regrouped in 6th and put down some fast laps to finish to re-pass Stewart and get the top 5; a solid follow-up to his podium last weekend in Daytona.
6 #27 Malcolm Stewart Started outside the top 10 in 11th but steadily worked his way forward. He had faster laps than Plessinger at the beginning but seemed to struggle more as the track broke down and lost the tow (they were moving through the pack together).
7 #94 Ken Roczen Bad start for Roczen as he got tangled up with Anderson who fell in the first turn. He charged through the field really quickly at first and caught right up to Plessinger and Stewart within the first few laps, but then kinda stalled out and lost the pace; at one point he had lost 15 seconds to Plessinger. Roczen mentioned how he was sick all week and must have had no energy. It's too bad, because he lost valuable points tonight.
8 #14 Dylan Ferrandis Ferrandis started in the top 5 and was holding his own for the first half of the race before Plessinger and Stewart both passed him. Towards the end he also got passed by Roczen. This is his third time getting 8th this year (his season-best).
9 #46 Justin Hill Hill was also sick this weekend according to his older brother Josh. He passed Oldenburg and McElrath enroute to this finish, but nothing flashy.
10 #12 Shane McElrath McElrath started right behind Ferrandis and was looking good to start, but then was shuffled back a bit. He's slowly improving every weekend... just needs to find a bit more speed.
11 #21 Jason Anderson Anderson crashed in the first turn and he couldn't salvage much after that. He actually was just a couple seconds back from Roczen at first, but then crashed again on Lap 3 and dropped back to 21st. After that, his pace was just a bit off and it was good just to move up to this spot... he was wayyyy back from McElrath in front of him.
12 #49 Mitchell Oldenburg Oldenburg was in 7th place to start! But he quickly was shuffled back... he was riding around by himself in 11th for most of the race before Anderson got him near the end. He had a bigggg gap over his teammate Bloss behind him.
13 #57 Benny Bloss Bloss started 13th and ended 13th: a super consistent ride for a guy that has been struggling with crashes all year. At one point he was just a few seconds behind Oldenburg in front of him, but he lost the pace and was 28 seconds behind him by the end... no battles for Benny tonight.
14 #45 Colt Nichols Nichols was right behind Bloss to start, but couldn't match the pace and was dropped. Not a good night for Colt.
15 #11 Kyle Chisholm Chisholm started 21st and slowly worked his way past some guys; better than previous races where he was crashed and/or struggled to move forward. This is Chisholm's season-best, matching his 15th in Tampa.
16 #86 Mitchell Harrison Harrison started 16th, passed some guys when they fell, but also got passed by Chisholm and Moranz. He passed Moranz back with two laps to go, so a decent charge through to the checkered flag.
17 #146 Kevin Moranz The Moranz/Harrison battle was an all-race thing: he started right behind Harrison, pressured him for a bit, lost the pace, caught back up to, passed him, held him off, but then ceded the spot with just two laps remaining.
18 #77 Jerry Robin Robin started near the back but put down some good laps initially. He passed Moranz and Harrison and had moved up to 15th before crashing back to this spot. That was basically it... he didn't make any forward progress the rest of the race.
19 #33 Fredrik Noren Noren was shuffled back at the beginning, and then either crashed or made a mistake to drop back to 22nd. He caught up to and passed Hand near the end (the rest of the spots he was gifted via crashes).
20 #68 Jeremy Hand Hand didn't have the pace to challenge anyone... he held off Noren for most of the race but got passed near the end. Congrats on making another main (his first since Tampa).
21 #72 Anthony Rodriguez Rodriguez started in 10th, got shuffled back a bit, but was riding well in 14th for the opening laps before crashing back to 21st (before the crash he was actually holding off Nichols). He crashed again after that, and was too far back at that point to catch up to anyone.
22 #17 Joey Savatgy Joey was looking good in 8th behind Ferrandis before he had a gnarly crash. The result: a DNF, broken ribs, and punctured lung. Poor Joey; hope we see him back soon.

250

1 #56 Seth Hammaker Holeshot, led every lap, and wins. Perfect race for Hammaker to get his first win since 2021. He had about a 2-3 second lead over Vialle for most of the race and pulled away a bit at the end; managed the lead perfectly.
2 #1 Tom Vialle Vialle was in 2nd the entire race; he managed to match the pace once trailing 2-3 seconds (similar to his ride in Daytona), but could never quite reel in Hammaker. Nonetheless, a good night for him: he had a cool line in the sand, beat Deegan, and got the points lead.
3 #38 Haiden Deegan Deegan had the best lap time, fastest ideal lap time, and was the best of the west: good night for him! He would have liked to have won, but started mid-pack and was about 5 seconds back from 2nd once he got into 3rd. He shortened that gap to two seconds but made a costly mistake trying to do the quad and that was that; he settled for 3rd after that. Great night for points... extended his points lead a lot.
4 #24 RJ Hampshire Hampshire was wayyyy back in 14th after the first lap... this was a super impressive ride to pass all the way up to 4th. He passed a lot of people clearly (i.e. Shimoda, Beaumer, Marchbanks, etc.), but the most consequential was passing East points leader Anstie. He got close to Deegan after Deegan made the mistake but couldn't quite match the pace in the final laps. Overall, great points night for Hampshire (although he did lose points to Vialle and Hammaker).
5 #100 Cole Davies Davies was one of the fastest 250 guys tonight: 3rd best lap time and 2nd best ideal time. He started in 4th, but crashed all the way back to 16th on the 2nd lap. He remounted just a few seconds back of Hampshire, and the two of them came through the pack together. It was an incredible comeback ride to get into the top 5, passing the likes of Anstie, Beaumer and Shimoda (just to name a few).
6 #30 Jo Shimoda Shimoda started in the top 5 and went back and forth with Beaumer for most of the race. He was right behind Davies when Davies crashed, but Davies caught all the way back up and passed him back... not great. However, Shimoda is still dealing with the nagging finger injury, and is getting better every race.
7 #31 Max Anstie Anstie had a mid-pack start but quickly got up into 7th. That's where his progress stalled... he was riding behind Schock for quite a few laps, finally made the pass, but then got passed by Hampshire. Davies would also pass him, but Anstie did manage to get around Beaumer towards the end. His pace was off: he got gapped easily by Hampshire and Davies and lost the points lead. Not a good night.
8 #23 Julien Beaumer Beaumer was in 3rd to start but slowly was shuffled back when Deegan, Hampshire, Davies, Shimoda, and Anstie passed him. He did put up a fight with Shimoda for a while, but ultimately faded at the end. He's dealing with a shoulder injury, and has now lost a ton of valuable points to Deegan.
9 #36 Garrett Marchbanks Marchbanks started in 10th, but got passed by Bennick, Mumford, and Hampshire in the opening laps. He passed Bennick back about halfway, and then gained a couple spots when Mumford and Schock crashed in the sand. An underwhelming night in terms of pace, but leaving with a top 10 in the E/W showdown is decent enough.
10 #92 Maximus Vohland Vohland once again had a horrible start (16th) and had to slowly crawl his way forward. In doing so, he passed a few Star riders: Thrasher, Bennick, and Mosiman (Mosiman did pass him back but then crashed). Vohland did catch-up a bit to Marchbanks as well; a good ride for him.
11 #34 Daxton Bennick Bennick made a lot of passes on the opening lap, but ceded most of them back in the following laps and faded pretty badly (Vohland passed him and gapped him by 10 seconds for instance).
12 #83 Austin Forkner Forkner was 20th to start after some first turn shenanigans (he had a back gate-pick from going to the LCQ), made some passes up to 18th, and then kinda stayed there. He took advantage of crashes from Schock, Mumford, Mosiman, and Hymas to move up to this spot, but did make passes stick on Cullin Park and Nate Thrasher on the last lap for 12th. For a while there, it looked like Forkner wasn't even going to make the main; he got the last spot in from the LCQ. The tough start to the season continues for Austin... but we're just happy to see him healthy.
13 #59 Cullin Park Park was riding in front of Forkner for most of the race but got passed on the last lap. Like Forkner, he started near the back and didn't make much forward passed, although he did move up positions with quite a few guys in front crashing. He passed Thrasher with 2 laps to go, but then gave that position back to Forkner.
14 #41 Nate Thrasher Pretty uneventful for Trasher who is still dealing with broken fingers. He started in 14th and finished here... would have been worse if other guys didn't crash. He got passed in the last two laps by Park and Forkner.
15 #93 Michael Mosiman Mosiman started in 11th, got shuffled around a bit, but had made a pass for 10th on Vohland with just a few minutes remaining when he crashed back to 15th. No good.
16 #65 Lux Turner Turner started near the back and was shuffled to dead last. He really only passed Reynolds and Towers; the rest of the positions were ceded to him by guys crashing.
17 #37 Coty Schock Schock had a great start and was holding his own in 6th ahead of Anstie for the beginning of the race. Things quickly unraveled laps 7/8: he got passed by Anstie, Hampshire, and Mumford, and got caught up behind Mumford when Mumford crashed in the sand; it was a costly mistake and he dropped all the way back to 20th. He was able to get around Yoder and Towers toward the end to salvage a few positions, but it could have been much better for him tonight.
18 #63 Hunter Yoder Yoder was riding near the back of the pack by himself for most of the race. He passed a fading Towers to move up a bit.
19 #60 Carson Mumford Mumford started in 13th and looked great coming through the pack with Hampshire (he was ahead of him for the first several laps). He passed Mosiman, Marchbanks, Bennick, and Schock before crashing alllll the way back. He was too far back at that point and couldn't make any forward progress except a pass on Towers.
20 #115 Gavin Towers Towers had a great 8th place start and kinda quickly faded all the way back to 20th. No crashes as far as we can tell, just didn't have the speed. Kudos to him for making it into the main on a competitive E/W Showdown night.
21 #10 Chance Hymas Hymas crashed off the start, put down some decent laps to work his way up to 11th ahead of Bennick, and then crashed out of the race with just two laps to go... luckily he seems to be okay, but a bad situation points-wise.
22 #54 Jett Reynolds Reynolds started 17th, quickly dropped to last, then crashed and pulled off... hopefully he's okay.
